MIAMI Realtors Launch Report on How South Florida is Repurposing CRE Assets
The MIAMI Association of Realtors Commercial (MIAMI Commercial) and the National Association of REALTORS (NAR) will release a report on how South Florida commercial property owners have repurposed and repositioned CRE assets, resulting in the revitalization of entire submarkets and their surrounding communities at an in-person event starting at 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 26 at the Biltmore Hotel.
MIAMI, May 20, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The MIAMI Association of Realtors Commercial (MIAMI Commercial) and the National Association of REALTORS (NAR) will release a report on how South Florida commercial property owners have repurposed and repositioned CRE assets, resulting in the revitalization of entire submarkets and their surrounding communities at an in-person event starting at 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 26 at the Biltmore Hotel.
Renown economist KC Conway will present his "White Paper – Adaptive Reuse 2.0" and then engage with a panel of notable CRE influencers on ways public and private interests have partnered to address the economic needs of commercial property owners, while creating a legacy for future generations through the development of vibrant and dynamic neighborhoods and communities out of older, functionally obsolescent ones from the past.

Conway will start the program with extensive opening remarks and discussion of his research. A panel discussion will follow with speakers representing several of the featured areas in various stages of the adaptive reuse process—from the public, private and non-for-profit arenas.
The panelists include: Meg Daly, founder of The Underline (which is transforming the underutilized land below Miami's Metrorail into a 10-mile linear park, urban trail, and public art destination); Kobi Karp, founder and principal of Kobi Karp Architecture and Interior Design (active in Wynwood); Tim Meerbott, the mayor of the Town of Cutler Bay; and Joe Jimenez, the EVP and general counsel of Codina Partners, LLC (with extensive developments in Doral and other areas.)
MIAMI Commercial, which has nearly 3,000 members and is the largest leading commercial Realtor association in Florida and one of the largest in the nation, secured a grant from NAR for this project. MIAMI Commercial works to impact key policy decisions and important issues affecting the commercial industry.
