Dr. Haddad is the first Michigan dentist to use the K-Laser for this purpose, according to Joel King of K-Laser USA. The K-Laser is an FDA-cleared therapeutic treatment that manages pain and inflammation while accelerating tissue regeneration. It is a drug free, surgery free solution that relieves headaches, jaw pain, and increases range of motion. Like laser therapy used for other conditions, when used to treat TMJ the K-Laser increases circulation, drawing water, oxygen and nutrients to the damaged area and creating an optimal healing environment that reduces inflammation, swelling, muscle spasms, stiffness and pain.
Dr. Haddad was also one of the first dentists in Michigan to offer a comprehensive approach to treating the myriad symptoms of TMJ. When a person's bite is not in proper alignment and balance with the muscles and joints, a TMJ disorder can occur. This can happen early on in life or, more commonly, as individuals age and their teeth and bite start to change or wear down. TMJ can also be triggered or aggravated by a traumatic event such as a car accident. In conjunction with laser therapy, Dr. Haddad uses sophisticated computerized jaw tracking equipment and muscle relaxation techniques utilizing a TENS machine to determine a patient's optimal bite. This progressive approach to treating TMD has patients getting relief predictably and more efficiently than ever before.

The condition was in the news last year when rock and roll singer Huey Lewis announced he had to cancel his concert schedule indefinitely due to hearing loss from Meniere's disease.
