MILWAUKEE, Nov. 20, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Arcio is a Milwaukee-based, technology-driven high-end lighting company aimed at consumers, interior designers and architects. The new company was built out of Oldenburg Group Inc., a company with a deep history of manufacturing in the Midwest and experience in high-tech lighting with Arcio's sister company Visa Lighting.
Legacy of Lighting
Arcio was founded by Ryan Oldenburg, a Milwaukee native and son of Visa Lighting's Chief Executive Officer, Wayne Oldenburg. The company started out as a side project between a small group of product designers, engineers and manufacturing experts within Visa Lighting, which provides advanced lighting fixtures and solutions to the demanding commercial market. The aim with Arcio is to advance the design and quality of light in fixtures for the residential and hospitality markets by incorporating the high level of performance and technology that are expected in the commercial market, but rarely available to consumers.
"Start With Light"
The incandescent lightbulb has been the driving force behind lighting design since the 1800's, dictating both scale and form of lighting fixtures. LED retrofit bulbs offer energy efficiency, but often sacrifice quality of light and offer nothing in terms of new forms. When creating their products, Arcio's designers and engineers begin by designing the right source for the application. By using custom-designed LED boards, OLED panels and other cutting edge sources they can dramatically expand the possibilities of form factors and effects in the final fixture, enabling concepts that haven't been possible using traditional sources.
By integrating more advanced, commercial quality technologies, Arcio is also able to enhance available features and user experience. One example: integrated 'dim-to-warm' LED technology shifts the color temperature warmer as the user dims the fixture, mimicking the familiar effect inherent to incandescent bulbs, and enabling the often-cited benefits of color temperature on sleep and circadian cycles.
"We have a lot of experience developing high-end, high-tech lighting for healthcare and other demanding commercial applications," Ryan Oldenburg says. "The Arcio brand lets us bring these cutting-edge light sources and controls into the broader residential and hospitality market, which has generally lagged in useful adoption of these new technologies".
That blend of decades of lighting experience and the passion of a startup culture gives Arcio a powerful combination. "We think it's the best of both worlds," says Oldenburg. "We're very excited about the products we can create".
Keeping it Local
Arcio takes pride in being a Milwaukee-based business and holds true to the craft and manufacturing history that runs deep in the city.
"The Midwest has a long history of specialized manufacturing, and a deep base of skilled craftsmen and women with a dedication to the skills that made Milwaukee the 'machine shop of the world'," Oldenburg says. "We're excited to continue that tradition by bringing the same highly skilled techniques and capabilities to modern, high-tech products – designed, engineered and manufactured right here."
The Oldenburgs have deep roots in the local community. In addition to serving as CEO of Visa Lighting and the Oldenburg Group, Wayne Oldenburg is also board president for the non-profit After Breast Cancer Diagnosis (ABCD), and his current and former board affiliations include the Medical College of Wisconsin, Junior Achievement, Sargento Incorporated, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee.
Currently, Arcio's multiple product lines are available on their website to consumers and interior designers, and many more are in development incorporating new materials and form factors.
