Mina Foundation shares a deep dive into the recent zkIgnite Cohort 1-funded zkApp and Dev4Dev project proposals and announces the launch of Cohort 2 and Cohort 3, sharing the program's support and funding opportunities for builders and entrepreneurs on Mina Protocol.
SAN FRANCISCO, April 10, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Mina Foundation, the public benefit corporation serving the Mina Protocol, announces the 14 zkApp and 12 Dev4Dev project proposals that received funding from zkIgnite Cohort 1. Selected projects will receive funding from the $500K USDC and $500K MINA Mina Foundation zkIgnite grant pool. Mina Protocol is on a mission to make the web user-owned with privacy and verifiable benefits using zero-knowledge (ZK) programmability.
After nearly 8 weeks, Cohort 1 participants notably brought in over 100+ zkApp proposals and 60+ Dev4Dev tooling and services proposals. As part of Mina's commitment to strong fundamentals of decentralized governance values, proposals were reviewed by a group of 30 Electors from the Mina community, and judged based on track success criteria.
The selected zkApp projects revolutionize a wide range of industries including sustainable energy, identity, and gaming, helping to bridge the gap between Web2 and Web3. With the potential to improve the overall development experience, all selected Dev4Dev tooling and service projects allow for a focus on building, making it easier and faster to create decentralized applications with improved security, scalability, and zero knowledge (ZK) privacy.
Funded zkApp projects include Anomix Network, a zkRollup layer 2 solution built on Mina Protocol that focuses on privacy and scalability, and BioSNARKS, a zk-proof of biotech data that allows participants to share or trade validated data without revealing sensitive information.
Funded Dev4Dev projects include ZKFS (Zero Knowledge File System), a data availability layer designed to reduce blockchain storage requirements while still allowing for complex business logic, and Njord, a zkRollup solution designed to tackle the challenges of scalability and user experience by enabling faster transaction inclusion.
zkIgnite Cohort 2 kicks off on May 24 and will offer more funding, improved workshops, technical support, and new opportunities for non-technical contributors with Cohort 3 set to launch later in 2023. Projects interested in co-building the future of zero knowledge are encouraged to apply.
