Now, we’ve moved Unum to the cloud, enabling any router with sufficient APIs to support Minim’s features... We’re glad to bring this agentless approach to market, and we’re especially excited to support MikroTik for our WISP customers.
MANCHESTER, N.H. (PRWEB) July 01, 2019
Minim, the AI-driven managed WiFi and IoT security platform, today launched MikroTik support on its platform in conjunction with “Cloud Unum,” a cloud-hosted middleware agent that accelerates time-to-market for Minim-enabled router devices. With this integration, Minim has been certified a Made for MikroTik software partner. The announcement underscores Minim’s commitment to delivering advanced value-added services to operators along with the freedom to choose Customer Premises Equipment (CPE).
“We’ve already made our open source agent, Unum, extremely light-weight for any Linux-based router to securely and efficiently stream home network telemetry to the Minim cloud,” said Alec Rooney, Founder and CTO at Minim. “Now, we’ve moved Unum to the cloud, enabling any router with sufficient APIs to support Minim’s features. Cloud Unum ensures network telemetry is received and processed for our platform to perform AI-driven fingerprinting, network optimization, and security. We’re glad to bring this agentless approach to market, and we’re especially excited to support MikroTik for our WISP customers.”
Headquartered in Latvia, MikroTik has developed routers for Wireless Internets Service Providers (WISPs) since 1996 and is now a globally-recognized brand for this market. Recently announcing the MikroTik smartphone app for easy configuration via iOS and Android, the company’s product suite includes: ethernet routers, switches, wireless systems for home and office, LTE products, Data over Powerlines, RouterBOARD, enclosures, interfaces, accessories, and antennas.
Both Minim and MikroTik are vendor members of the Wireless Internet Service Providers Association (WISPA) and already share customers.
“Our company uses MikroTik routers, specifically the hAP AC lite, for their expansive feature set,” said Sean Moore, Technical Support Manager of Airlink Rural Broadband, now a Minim customer. “We loved delivering an all-in-one unit to provide power to external devices like ATAs and customer radios— eliminating the need for a power active box and providing a stellar wireless home network. What we are most excited about with MikroTik support on the Minim platform is the advanced device fingerprinting and security risk assessment. These features will allow us to better troubleshoot problem devices with the end customer and resolve issues more efficiently.”
Minim will be demonstrating its platform and showcasing supported routers at The Independent Show 2019 by the National Cable Television Cooperative (NCTC) and America’s Communications Association (ACA) on July 28-31, 2019 in Chicago, IL. In addition, Minim CEO and Founder Jeremy Hitchcock will give a fireside chat on IoT security at the CableLabs Summer Conference 2019 on August 5, 2019 in Keystone, CO.
