Minim, the cloud-managed WiFi and IoT security platform for smart homes, today announces it has joined the prplMesh working group in an effort to advance the open-source, carrier-grade, and certifiable implementation of Wi-Fi CERTIFIED EasyMesh™, the Wi-Fi Alliance’s Multi-AP Specification. Part of a wider collaboration between prpl Foundation and Broadband Forum, prplMesh promises a baseline for OEMs, software vendors, and broadband service providers to rapidly develop integrated multi-AP products while optimizing their research and development investment for creating differentiating solution value.

"Standards efforts have been proven to help accelerate innovation and benefit entire ecosystems," said David Barr, Prpl Technical Steering Committee Chair. “With a mission to harmonize and converge CPE software and APIs, the prpl Foundation enables development efficiencies through common infrastructure which ultimately allows vendors to focus on unique, differentiating features. Ecosystem participation is critical and having companies like Minim actively involved and contributing to prplMesh is important to its success."

Founded in 2017, Minim is an AI-driven managed WiFi and IoT security platform for service providers to enable a better connected home. Minim's Software as a Service (SaaS) helps service providers increase revenue and reduce support costs by offering premium value-added services to their subscribers via customer premises equipment of their choosing. Subscribers benefit from best-in-class customer support, an easy-to-use mobile app, parental controls, AI-powered network recommendations, and more.

“The prplMesh project is a really good fit for us,” said Alec Rooney, Minim Founder and CTO. “The project accelerates innovation for Minim— We aren’t bogged down with building foundational infrastructure to support mesh technology. What’s more, prplMesh benefits our ISP customers as they make significant investments in hardware and should be able to mix-and-match customer premises equipment.”
