Free, virtual meeting on March 16, 2027 will gather patient and care partner testimony on life with MSA to inform future treatments.
CHICAGO, Oct. 23, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Mission MSA, a nonprofit supporting people affected by multiple system atrophy (MSA), will host a virtual Externally Led Patient-Focused Drug Development (EL-PFDD) Session on Multiple System Atrophy on Tuesday, March 16, 2027, from 10:00am to 3:00pm EST. The virtual meeting is free to attend and open to participants worldwide.
Hosted by Mission MSA, this meeting represents a landmark opportunity for people living with MSA, care partners, and community members to connect directly with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), clinical researchers, medical product developers, and biotech leaders.
For too long, decisions about MSA therapies have been informed primarily by clinical charts and medical literature. By sharing their daily realities—symptoms, functional challenges, care needs, and treatment goals—participants will help identify unmet needs, shape clinical trials to measure outcomes that improve daily life, encourage industry to prioritize MSA therapy development, and assist the FDA in evaluating the real-world benefits and risks of potential new treatments.
"No one understands multiple system atrophy like the people living with it and the people caring for them every day," said Joe Lindahl, Chief Executive Officer of Mission MSA. "This milestone meeting puts their experiences front and center to directly inform how future treatments are developed and evaluated."
The session will feature a clinical overview of MSA, two interactive panels on daily life and treatment priorities, and live audience polling and open comments. Participants can contribute using their preferred communication method, including live polling, a pre-meeting survey, and written or audio comments. Those who are unable to attend live can share written experiences through an online portal before the event and during a 30-day post-meeting window.
Following the meeting, Mission MSA will prepare a Voice of the Patient (VOP) report summarizing the patient and caregiver experiences shared. The report will be submitted to the FDA and published on the Mission MSA website as a permanent, public record. FDA staff can reference the report when evaluating potential MSA therapies and when advising drug sponsors on MSA development programs.
