CAMBRIDGE, Mass., June 15, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- MIT Sloan Executive Education today announced "Owning Impact: Creating a Positive Legacy for Families and Society," a new executive education program designed to help business families (families that own companies, philanthropic foundations, or family offices) clarify their goals and plans to make a consequential economic, social, and environmental impact.
Jason Jay, director of MIT Sloan's Sustainability Initiative, and John Davis, lead faculty member of Family Enterprise Executive Programs at MIT Sloan, co-lead this program to be held virtually over four half-days between July 19 and 27, 2021.
"Owning Impact" provides families with an opportunity to learn about and build alignment in the family on the topics of impact investing, philanthropy, corporate social responsibility, and political engagement. Participants will leave the course with a better understanding of strengthening family unity, talent, culture, and reputation while uniquely contributing to a better world. Through the lens of systems thinking, a signature mode of thought at MIT, participants will also learn how to deploy efforts and resources in ways that advance their goals.
"The past year has motivated many business families to intensify their commitment to the health of society and the planet, harnessing their collective power toward meaningful action," said Jay. "By mid-century, $41 trillion of family wealth will pass down to the next generation, 60% of whom consider it essential to invest in making a positive social or environmental impact. This course will help participants design and implement an integrated family social impact strategy driven by shared values."
Through content, case studies, structured breakout activities, and focused family discussions, participants will learn about and exchange ideas on the essential building blocks of family social impact. They'll learn how to build consensus on their plans and will leave the program prepared to build momentum for change.
