New course helps leaders drive business growth through Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB)
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Jan. 30, 2025 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- MIT Sloan Executive Education today announces the launch of "Intention to Impact: How to Lead in a Multicultural Economy," a first-of-its-kind course designed to help business leaders unlock the potential of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) as a catalyst for business growth and innovation. This immersive, three-day course will take place from July 9-11, 2025, and is taught by MIT Sloan's Malia Lazu, Lecturer in the TIES Group, Renee Richardson Gosline, Senior Lecturer & Research Scientist, Marketing, and Kate W. Isaac, Senior Lecturer.
Created by Lazu, an award winning, tenured strategist in diversity and inclusion with over 20 years of experience in deep economic development and investment in urban entrepreneurship, the course emphasizes the importance of the inclusion economy. In today's rapidly evolving business landscape, it is more critical than ever for companies to integrate DEIB into their core strategies in order to remain competitive and future-ready.
"Many business leaders still perceive DEIB as a charitable effort, failing to recognize the strong business case behind it," said Lazu. "Companies that focus solely on technological advancements risk overlooking the diverse talent necessary to recruit, retain, and develop to stay ahead in a competitive global market."
Intention to Impact is ideal for business leaders, founders, managers, HR professionals, and anyone committed to integrating DEIB into organizational strategies. Whether participants are already champions of DEIB or questioning its real-world impact, the course offers valuable insights into how DEIB can drive business success. Leaders will gain the tools and frameworks to lead inclusively and foster a culture of belonging within their organizations.
This field-based course combines interactive case studies, hands-on skills practice, and real-world learning experiences. Participants will engage with diverse business advocacy groups, hear from community leaders, and observe DEIB practices in action. These experiences, alongside in-class learning and discussions, will equip leaders with the skills needed to implement effective DEIB initiatives in their organizations.
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will earn a certificate of course completion from MIT Sloan School of Management. To learn more or enroll in this course, please click here.
On Monday, February 3, Lazu will be hosting a LinkedIn Live webinar, "Strategies for Inclusive Leadership," to celebrate the launch of this course. This live conversation will provide a deeper understanding of how implicit bias impacts teams and organizations, offering actionable tools to recognize and transform it. Additionally, it will explore strategies for leading authentically and leveraging DEIB initiatives as a powerful driver for revenue growth and profitability.
