A course geared towards helping board and C-suite members learn the tools needed for a successful cybersecurity strategy
CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Sept. 29, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- MIT Sloan Executive Education is currently accepting enrollment for 'Cybersecurity Governances for The Board of Directors', a new course designed to provide board members and senior executives with essential knowledge and perspective on cybersecurity strategy, risk management, and leadership. This three-day course will be conducted through MIT Sloan's "live online" format, November 30-December 2, allowing for real-time interaction with faculty and peers.
Led by Stuart Madnick, professor of Information Technology at MIT Sloan and a pioneer of cybersecurity research for over 40 years, Keri Pearlson, director of the research consortium Cybersecurity at MIT Sloan (CAMS), and Kevin Powers, research affiliate of CAMS, the course will explain the relevant models and best practices to help board members and business executives understand how to be knowledgeable participants in the leadership of cybersecurity in their own organizations. This program takes a hands-on approach with frameworks and tools to understand the current state of cyber threats and vulnerabilities, as well as the latest thinking on ways to develop an effective strategy to keep organizations resilient.
"As we become more digitally oriented, new risks and vulnerabilities will begin to emerge, and business leaders need to know how to plan for it," said Madnick. "The goal of this course is to provide the board members and executives of today and tomorrow with the capabilities to be knowledgeable participants in executing their judiciary and oversite responsibilities for their companies."
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will earn a certificate of course completion from MIT Sloan Executive Education. Key takeaways from the program include:
- An understanding of the board's role as it relates to creating and executing oversite responsibilities of cyber-resilient organizations
- An understanding of the importance of building a corporate culture of cybersecurity
- The ability to discern cybersecurity's role in data protection and privacy concerns
- A comprehension of the current and newly emerging cybersecurity regulations and how they impact companies across different industries
