NEW YORK, Sept. 28, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Mitsui Fudosan America (MFA) lobby gallery at 527 Madison Avenue will showcase eight oil paintings by local artist Brad Marshall through November 16, 2018. Viewing hours for the Universe: A Selection of Paintings exhibition are Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Queens-based artist—who is represented by Fischbach Gallery (NYC/Miami)—depicts views of New York City, as well as landscapes from his travels. Similar to nineteenth-century Hudson River School painters, Marshall is attracted to dramatic locations and his work reflects his emotional response to his subject matter. While he does refer to photographs during the painting process, Marshall relies on memory to serve as the scaffolding for his composite images. In this sense, Marshall's experiential knowledge plays as important a role as representational exactitude.
About the show, Marshall says, "When approaching these paintings, I don't differentiate between the natural and man-made. The emphasis is on getting the color and light of the scene. Also, whether it is in the midst of a city, out in the country, or even underwater, capturing the place—as if others can view through my eyes—is the goal. If I can give a sense of these locations, my work has been fulfilled."
Marshall studied at the San Francisco Academy of Art and his work is in a number of public collections throughout the U.S., including the Hudson River Museum of Art, and the General Electric Company and Commerce Bancshares collections.
MFA Vice President of Leasing and Asset Management Keith Purcell works with art consultant Jay Grimm, the property's leasing agents James Frederick and Peter Occhi of Cushman & Wakefield, and Hines property manager Chris Linville, to select exhibitions for the building's ongoing program to support noteworthy and mid-career artists.
