WATERLOO, Ontario, Dec. 9, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Maplesoft™ today announced the release of a new version of the Maple™ Companion, a free mobile app that helps students learn math and complements the mathematical software product Maple. The initial release used the phone's camera to bring mathematical expressions into Maple, where the math can be solved, visualized, analyzed, and explored. The new release adds mathematical power to the app itself, so students can solve a wide variety of mathematical problems directly on their phone, and then move easily into Maple for more advanced explorations.
With the free Maple Companion app, students can check answers to problems from algebra, precalculus, calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, and more, using their phone's camera. They can find integrals, factor polynomials, invert matrices, solve systems of equations, solve differential equations, and perform many other simple and advanced mathematical operations. The app also produces visualizations of mathematical expressions, which help students deepen their understanding of their problems and solutions.
To enter problems into the Maple Companion, users simply take a picture of the math using their phone. The mathematics can be in handwritten notes, a textbook, a whiteboard, or anywhere else mathematics appears. With this new release, users also have the option of entering problems manually using a built-in math editor. They can even combine the two approaches, starting with a picture of the math, and then using the editor to make changes.
"One of the best ways for students in math-based courses to determine if they've understood a concept is to check the answers to their homework problems. Unless the answer is in the back of this book, this isn't easy to do, but with the Maple Companion, students can verify their answers literally with a click of their camera," says Karishma Punwani, Director of Academic Product Management at Maplesoft. "And when combined with Maple, the Maple Companion provides students with the opportunity to enhance their learning even further, such as by determining where they went wrong, getting additional practice, or exploring related problems."
The free Maple Companion app is available from the Apple App Store for iOS, and from Google Play for Android users. For more information about the Maple Companion, visit https://www.maplesoft.com/products/MapleCompanion/.
