Monster Energy's Alex Beaulieu-Marchand and James Woods Claim Silver and Bronze in Men’s Ski Big Air At X Games Aspen 2019
ASPEN, Colo. (PRWEB) January 27, 2019 -- It was a big night for Monster Energy’s Alex Beaulieu-Marchand (ABM) who won his first Men’s Ski Big Air medal claiming silver under the lights in Aspen, Colorado at Winter X Games Aspen 2019. Also claiming a podium spot, his teammate James Woods from Great Britain secured the bronze medal.
Once the sun had set over Buttermilk Mountain, The Real Cost Men’s Ski Big Air treated the high-energy crowd to a spectacular air show. When the dust settled, Alex Beaulieu-Marchand walked away with second place posting high-tech aerials such as Switch right side triple cork and Switch left triple cork double grab in a highly contested final.
Men’s Ski Big Air consists of a twenty-five minute jam session, which saw heavy action from a slew of Monster Energy athletes, who were laying it all on the line for their chance at X Games glory.
ABM stomped two massive runs that earned him an 87.00, and impressed the judges with his impeccable style, and huge tricks in which he spun on both the left and right side.
ABM’s run consisted of a huge Switch Triple Left 1440 Bow and Arrow to Octograb, which earned a 47.00 on his fourth run. This was combined with the score of his third run, which earned a 40.00 and was a Switch Right Triple 1440 with a Safety Grab.
Following the event, AMB, was hyped on his performance, and said, “This was such a fun contest, everyone killed it and I’m so happy I put down my runs.”
Coming in a solid third place, Woods snuck into the bronze medal position with his fifth and final run in which he stomped a Switch Right Triple 1440 Octograb, which scored a 44.00. This was combined with his fourth run score of 38.00, which he earned for his Left Triple 1620 Safety Grab.
“Honestly, it’s my biggest dream to get the call up to ski at X Games, it’s an honor to be on that start list and my dream come true to drop in at this event” said Woods. Anything more than that is just mind blowing. I’ve been getting very ready for the Slopestyle event and cannot WAIT to put it down again tomorrow at the big show. Thanks for having me.”
Monster Energy skiers will now turn their attention to Slopestyle Finals which are set to pop off on Sunday, January 26, the final day of X Games Aspen 2019. Stay tuned!
