X Games Minneapolis 2017 has an incredible weekend in store, seamlessly blending completion across Skate, BMX, Moto X and Flat Track racing disciplines, as well as a variety of entertainment, music and activities suited for the whole family throughout X Fest, which will be located in the Medtronic Plaza at U.S. Bank Stadium and The Commons across the street in downtown Minneapolis. In Skateboard Street Nyjah Huston will once again be the one to beat. Last year he took silver and in 2015 he took gold marking his 6th career gold medal. Even outside of X Games he’s lethal, and has won more prize money in skateboarding competition than anyone else in history. Fellow Monster Energy teammate Ishod Wair, who took bronze in 2016, is definitely capable of earning a spot on the podium and has the credibility to back it up as one of skateboarding’s most popular skaters and a fan favorite. Other skateboarders to watch out for include Matt Berger and Kyle Walker.
Coming off his recent third-place Vans Park Series victory in Vancouver and maintaining his first place in overall Pro Tour Challenger rankings, Tom Schaar will be gunning for the podium in Skateboard Park. A five-time X Games Big Air medalist, and 17-year old skateboard prodigy, Schaar started competing at X Games in 2012 and was the first to land a 1080 on a skateboard. Another one to watch is Raven Tershy. The “underground NorCal ripper” from Santa Cruz, California is definitely a fan favorite and has a skill level that surpasses most. Ben Hatchell and Trey Wood will also compete in Skateboard Park, and Lizzie Armanto who took silver in 2016 will compete in Women’s Skateboard Park.

Jamie Bestwick, the unquestionable king of BMX Vert, will be ready to reclaim gold this year. He’s won every X Games Vert event since 2007 except 2015, which ended Bestwick’s streak of nine consecutive gold medals. He reclaimed gold in 2016 and is hoping this will be the start of a new winning streak.
Loaded with raw talent, five-time X Games gold medalist Kyle Baldock from Australia will be going for gold as a triple threat in BMX Park, Dave Mirra’s BMX Park Best Trick and BMX Dirt.
Two-time defending BMX Big Air Champion Colton Satterfield leads BMX Big Air progression and will be making his ninth X Games appearance this year in BMX Big Air.
In BMX Dirt be on the look out for Kevin Peraza, Ben Wallace and James Foster who took a clean podium sweep in 2016 with Peraza taking gold, Wallace silver and Foster bronze.
Josh Sheehan will compete in Moto X Freestyle and Moto X Best Trick. Sheehan is one of a handful of riders to land a double backflip and used that trick to earn bronze at X Games Los Angeles 2011 in Best Trick. He also won bronze in QuarterPipe in 2015. At Austin 2016, Josh was the only X Games athlete to compete in four disciplines (Best Whip, Best Trick, Freestyle and QuarterPipe), where he took his first gold in Freestyle.
Axell Hodges took silver in his inaugural X Games debut in Best Whip, and will be competing in Moto X Best Whip, Moto X Step Up and Most X Quarterpipe High Air.
Always a crowd favorite Jackson Strong will be competing in Moto X Freestyle and Moto X Best Trick. As the defending Moto X Best Trick gold medalist and first rider to land a front flip at X Games, Strong is definitely one to watch.
In Flat Track look out for Jared Mees who took gold in 2016 and Brad “The Bullet” Baker who took bronze at the inaugural event in 2015 and bronze in 2016.
