“I’d love to have won, but with quick racing, being .3 behind is great. It was a tough week and there are a lot of things going on in my world right now so I was happy to put a good run down and end the season on a high note for myself, my team and my family - Danny Hart
LENZERHEIDE, Switzerland (PRWEB) September 12, 2018
Hart did so on the heels of his World Cup overall series 2nd place, which he was awarded just two weeks ago in France.
With the fabled rainbow jersey waiting for the winner, the race format at Worlds is a one-day, winner takes all contest that pits the world’s best riders against each other for the title of UCI MTB Downhill World Champion.
The race course in Lenzerheide is steep and filled with large bermed bike park style corners all the way down, but incorporates several fresh, root filled wooded sections and large wooden drops. Adding to the difficulty is a layer of loose pebbles and dust across the entire track that makes traction fleeting at the best of times. Early rain during practice made some sections incredibly greasy until the late day sun finally managed to bake them dry.
After qualifying well, Hart was one of the favorites to win.
“I’d love to have won, but with quick racing, being .3 behind is great," said Hart. It was a tough week and there are a lot of things going on in my world right now so I was happy to put a good run down and end the season on a high note for myself, my team and my family. Looking forward to next season now with a year’s experience on my Saracen bike - 0.3 of a second is nothing!”
