Monster Energy’s Sam Hill (AUS) Takes Silver at The Enduro World Series Round 6 in Whistler, Canada
WHISTLER, Canada (PRWEB) August 14, 2018 -- Monster Energy’s Sam Hill (AUS) wins second place at the Enduro World Series Round 6 in Whistler, Canada after winning round 4 and 5.
The Australian battled back from an early time deficit to slide into the silver position and solidify his lead in the overall series ranking with only two stops left on the series calendar.
The usually brutal tracks were toned down this week with only 1100m of climbing over five stages and a couple of lift assists. Riders left the start ramp and made the 450m vertical climb up Blackcomb Mountain twice to hit the famed Micro Climate and Crazy train trails for their first two stages of the day. From there it was a spin around Alta lake to take them to the Creekside Gondola that would take riders up to stages three and four in the new Creekside Zone and the hand built Delayed Fuse track followed by a quick pedal up to Heavy Flow and Tunnel Vision. From there it was a quick spin back to the gondola and the long ride to the 2182m Whistler Peak for the 21- minute marathon to the bottom of stage five.
Hill was happy with a second place and padding his points’ lead.
“I really enjoyed the stages and am really happy with the way I rode,” said Hill. I obviously would have liked to have had a few faster times on some of the stages, but I was third overall going into the last stage and knew it was going to be a tough one. I’d pretty much used up all my energy by the time I got up there so I was pretty happy to come down and see myself in second place overall. Whistler is such a tough race on your body and your bike so it’s one that makes me a little nervous to get through. To leave with a good points haul is great, and I am happy with second.”
Monster’s Energy’s Jared Graves (AUS) landed in 7th and Mitch Ropelato (USA) was 20th. Hill now sits well out in front of the overall series points chase, with 2830 points, almost 600 points ahead of his closest rival.
Next up is round 7 in Ainsa-Sobrarbe, Spain September 22 - 23 where Hill will be a favorite to take home gold, which will set him up for another world championship title. The season is looking to be tracking well for another world championship title for Hill.
