Morphy Auctions' November Firearms Sale To Feature An Outstanding Collection Of Rifles, Shotguns, Revolvers, Pistols, Edged Weapons, and Militaria At Every Price Point
Denver, PA (PRWEB) October 06, 2017 -- Morphy Auctions, the finest auction destination for fresh to the market collections, is pleased to announce its next quarterly fine firearms sales event to be held on Friday, November 3rd, and Saturday, November 4th, 2017 starting promptly at 9am both days. All lots from this sale are on display in Morphy's Denver auction gallery and available for preview now.
Friday, the first day of the event, is always eagerly anticipated as the vast majority of the lots on offer are estimated at $2,000 or less. This allows enthusiasts the opportunity purchase quality, affordable, and wide ranging collectible, hunting, and target guns, as well as sporting and military-related memorabilia.
Saturday promises to be spectacular with dozens of museum-quality items available in every specialty area. The “Fortune 500” categories of Colt, Smith & Wesson, and Winchester take center stage on the second day of this can’t-miss sale. Highlight Colts include an incredible collection of semi-automatic 1902, 1903, 1908, and 1911 models. Featured among these are a presentation factory ivory gripped Model 1902 Long Slide, a rare 9mm Colt 1911 US Officers model, a pre- war National Match, a Service Ace, and .38 Super Models. And of course, there are several fine Pythons, like a 3” and Double Diamond Set and some great SAA models including a Howard Dove engraved sheriff’s model, numerous US models, and early civilian models.
Firearms by Smith & Wesson are well represented in this sale, with over two dozen lots on offer. Highlights include an early Volcanic model, an unfired Number 3 Single Action, a minty factory engraved Model 1902 Target 2nd Model, as well as a host of pre- and postwar large frame double actions.
This sale includes examples of nearly every model Winchester ever manufactured. The best of the best on offer here would be an Ulrich factory engraved Model 1886 take down rifle, a minty special order 1886 in the rarest caliber, the .40-70, a near mint case colored 45-70, and a fine 1895 flat side in 30-40 Krag.
Certain to catch global attention is this auction’s fine collection of historical weapons and items. Featured lots here include a documented 1st Model 1873 carbine with Sioux history, as well as firearms with provenance to Buffalo Bill and Granville Stuart.
Pre- and postwar sporting rifles are key categories in this event. Carefully curated highlights include a cased Holland and Holland Takedown cased rifle, a Griffin & Howe custom .375 H&H, and a Griffin & Howe Camp Perry award rifle built on Remington 30 action. Also sharing the spotlight is a fine grouping of US and foreign made double barrel shotguns from important brands including Parker, Fox, Winchester, and other niche English and trap and skeet manufacturers.
This sale’s selections of U.S. and foreign military firearms are second to none, and include incredible Lugers, a M40 Drilling, US Springfields and Colts, sniper rifles, and others. A First Contract Model 1799 North & Cheney pistol in fine condition leads a pack of over 40 pre-Civil War US martial pistols from one lifelong collection. An impressive collection of Lugers is also in the mix, with some examples so rare that they are seldom if ever seen on the secondary market.
Also of great interest will be the wide variety of early weapons offered through this quarterly event. Can’t miss offerings include a nice selection of Kentucky long rifles. Headliners here are a signed and relief carved Golden Christian Beck flintlock rifle in excellent as found condition, a rifle with a patriotic eagle patchbox attributed to Mewhirter, and a signed David Cooley rifle.
In the edged weapons genre, we are proud to offer a large collection of Imperial German Navy swords and daggers from a well-known collection 60 years in the making. Many of them are identified and include detailed provenance. And once again, Morphy’s is offering more extraordinary, best-in-class Bowie knives as part of this sale. These include the finest Shively Bowie knife in extant, a large Alfred Hunter Bowie with impeccable provenance, and several very early and high quality English examples.
The sale features over 70 lots of swords from many historical eras and international locations. These include American silver hilts, American Revolutionary War officer’s sabers, several identified Civil War officer’s and presentation swords, and Eagle and Indian Princess pommel swords, among other very desirable examples.
Also on offer are a number of other firearm rarities, including Spanish Miquelet pistols and single shot rifles. Can’t miss highlights in these specialty categories include a unique colossal double lock superposed pistol from the outstanding personal collection of Herb Ratner, as well as two Sharps 1874 models, a Stevens 44 ½”, and a number of fine Ballards.
This sale rounds out with an impressive range of scarce and early fishing lures and tackles, highlighted by a previously unknown well-marked Haskell minnow.
