More than 330 franchise owners and their staff, along with the corporate team and vendor partners, swarmed the Fiesta Condesa Americana in Cancun from January 23-26

After being acquired by Neighborly in August 2018, Mosquito Joe had a lot to celebrate at its sixth annual convention. The theme of the 2019 conference was “Leading Together,” bringing the franchisees, staff and partners together as a cohesive system, aligning in its mission of leading the outdoor pest control industry.

In his welcome address, Mosquito Joe President Lou Schager highlighted the synergies that can be created between all the Neighborly brands to generate new customer acquisition, improve operations and increase unit-level economics. In addition, Schager laid out the brand’s main goals for this year.

“In 2019, we plan on solidifying our spot as the leader in the mosquito and pest control industry,” said Schager. “We are hard at work on multiple initiatives to bring value-added and innovative capabilities to our system, including an increased focus on customer service, tick control and training programs.”
Mosquito Joe recognized franchise owners at the annual awards ceremony, including:

  • Franchisee of the Year and Philanthropy Award: Tim and Lisa Lanai (Southwest Nashville)
  • Wingspan Award (Highest dollar volume as an entity in 2018) - Kurt and Melissa Godwin (Baltimore and Annapolis)
  • Mo’ Money Award (Highest revenue in first year): Jake and Elyce Schlichting (Rockford-Crystal Lake, IL)
  • Most MoJo Award (peer-nominated; most passion, positivity and enthusiasm): Yoel Gutierrez and Omar Sanchez (Miami)
  • Technician of the Year Award: Daniel Brown (Wayne, NJ)
  • Office Manager of the Year Award: Kim Swafford (Gulf Coast AL)

After celebrating the past year, Mosquito Joe and its parent company look forward to leading together in 2019.

“With the support from Neighborly, as well as our revenue growth and new franchisees, we had a great 2018, and expect 2019 to be our best year yet,” said Jodi Ramoino, Director of Franchise Development for Mosquito Joe. “We anticipate bringing 25 more franchisees into our system and continue to make outside fun again for families across the country.”
