Multi-cultural superheroes, science & spy gadgets book named Finalist in American Book Fest's 2019 Best Book Awards in Children's Fiction Category

GLENDALE, Wis., Nov. 30, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Wisconsin author Lora Hyler received a Finalist award in the Children's Fiction category in the 2019 Best Book Awards held by American Book Fest of Beverly Hills, CA.

The Stupendous Adventures of Mighty Marty Hayes features a 12-year-old African-American superhero and a multicultural cast of friends, who work on CRISPR-Cas9 in their seventh grade advanced science classroom, and share a love of spy gadgets.

Awards were presented for titles published in 2017 - 2019. Jeffrey Keen, President and CEO of American Book Fest said this year's contest included a very competitive children's fiction category and yielded over 2,000 entries from mainstream and independent publishers. Contributing to this year's outstanding competition were publishers HarperCollins, Penguin/Random House, Simon and Schuster, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and hundreds of Independents.
