MultiPlan Awards $30,000 in Grants to Rural Hospitals
New York, NY (PRWEB) September 03, 2013 -- MultiPlan, Inc., the nation’s oldest and largest provider of independent PPO networks, today announced the recipients of its 2013 Rural Health Outreach Grant Program.
This year’s four grant recipients were selected from 123 applications and represent a diverse array of programs focused on improving the health of people living in rural areas. Grant recipients will each receive $7,500 to help them introduce or expand services, education, screenings and other healthcare related endeavors that support the wellbeing of the people in their communities.
The recipients of the 2013 MultiPlan Rural Health Outreach Grant are:
• Guadalupe Regional Medical Center (GRMC) in Seguin, Texas will use the grant to expand its Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic. This expansion will enable GRMC to provide maternal health services to a greater number of women with high-risk pregnancies who live in the rural counties served by GRMC.
• Ouachita County Medical Center in Camden, Arkansas plans to use grant funds to expand training in obstetrics education. The purchase of a birthing simulator, pediatric monitor and manikin along with training materials will help nursing staff prepare for challenging emergency births.
• Pipestone County Medical Center in Pipestone, Minnesota will use the grant to advance its Pediatric Sensory Processing Therapy Program. Grant funds will enable Pipestone to purchase pediatric sensory processing equipment that will be used to provide occupational and physical therapy for children in the community.
• Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg, North Carolina will use the grant as part of the funding to complete a Fit Trail with 20 exercise stations on the grounds of the hospital. The Fit Trail is designed to help reduce diabetes, obesity and heart related illnesses in the population of Scotland county and surrounding area.
