Music Themed Luxury Swimming Pool Design Wins Gold- Bergen County NJ
Bergen County NJ (PRWEB) November 21, 2013 -- The Association of Pool & Spa Professionals (APSP) has recognized Cipriano Custom Swimming Pools and Landscaping with a coveted "Gold Award" for the music themed all glass tile & fiber optic violin swimming pool design.
The APSP for more than 30 years has been recognized by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) as the establishment that dictates the standards and regulations as they pertain to building both pools and spas. The APSP, a world-renowned organization, is highly respected among all pool builders within the industry. Once a year, APSP seeks out the elite pool and spa projects that they feel are worthy of honor, based on ingenuity and innovation. This year, Bergen County NJ Based Cipriano Custom Swimming Pools & Landscaping received the APSP’s "Gold Award," in the category "Residential Concrete Pools 601 Square Feet or More," for the design and construction of a custom glass tile & fiber optic swimming pool in Bedford, NY.
Cipriano’s prominent Landscape Architecture office, led by 15-year veteran Landscape Architect William Moore, produced the award winning plans. The pool was designed in the exact shape of a 1700’s era Stradivarius violin, with all of its intricacies. In order to make the pool as realistic to a violin replica as possible, the 1350 square foot pool included all of the relevant characteristics, such as the strings, a chinrest, a tailpiece, a bow, f-holes, a purfling, and a bridge.
The pool interior is finished with nearly 500,000 individual pieces of iridescent glass tile, and the floor of the pool was designed with an exceptional 4-way gradient pattern. In typical tile installations, a gradient color blend can only transition in two directions from a centerline. The gradient colors in the violin pool however transition in every direction. The glass tile’s smooth transitioning color was achieved by mapping out each individual sheet of tile in the pool floor with the design program Auto Cad.
The "chinrest" on this particular violin, is actually a 12-person perimeter overflow spa that is entirely finished in jet-black glass tiles. This luxury feature conveys the illusion that the gentle waters are endlessly flowing over the sides of the spa, both into the pool and through the patio stone on the other end. In reality, however, the water that spills over the edges of the spa is collected in a trough connected to the pool, where it is then recirculated back into the spa.
The "bow" of the violin intersects the pool at its neck, and is represented by two koi ponds. The koi ponds are exceedingly beautiful when viewed from outside of the pool, as they boast water irises, lilies, and various other aquatic florae. More remarkably however, the koi can be viewed from within the pool itself, due to acrylic panels on both sides of the pool, which give the swimmer complete visual access to the radiant koi fish. The view of both ponds becomes even more spectacular at night due to 250 fiber optic star lights, that elegantly illuminate the aquatic "violin bow."
The violin pool, with all of its features, is even more spectacular after dark, primarily because of the custom fiber optic and LED lighting design. The pool displays a fiber optic rope lighting feature, which is installed throughout the entire periphery of the pool—more than 350 feet of fiber optics. Additionally, the "strings" of the violin pool are interwoven with 5760 strands of fiber optics. These strands light up radiantly in the dark and also define the lap lanes. The colored LED lights can be used in conjunction with the fiber optic or as a stand alone feature.
There are several other options that the violin pool includes. The first is an automated control system, which gives the homeowner the ability to vary pool functions, such as temperature, water chemistry, spa and lighting options from anywhere in the world via an iPhone. An underwater surround sound system gives the swimmer the possibility of listening to their favorite music under the water. A Riverflow Jet system can create a 2000 gallon/minute current that is strong enough to swim or kayak against. The pool also includes a 1,000,000 BTU heater which makes all of the aforementioned features available for use year round, even during the frigid northeast winter months.
With a wide range of features, a flawless formal design, and detailed finishes, this Bedford, NY swimming pool showcases itself as the ultimate pool and spa. "The greatest challenge of this pool was incorporating the gradient tile blend with the fiber optics. Thankfully our experience enabled us to blend the intricate inground pool design with all of the latest custom finishes and features," said Chris Cipriano, President of Cipriano Custom Swimming Pools and Landscaping. This is the fifteenth International Award of Excellence that Cipriano has earned for the design and construction of inground pools.
