DALLAS, March 12, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- MV Transportation, Inc., a recognized leader in passenger transportation services, today announced it has made a large donation of bottled water, valued at more than $100,000, to employees and select community partners in Texas cities served by the company to aid in winter storm relief and recovery efforts.
The recent severe winter storm that left much of Texas without electricity also disrupted water systems for residents, leaving millions without drinkable water due to cracked pipes, frozen wells and water treatment plants knocked offline. While much of the state's water issues have now been restored, many communities and apartment complexes are still without water.
Public and private relief organizations stepped up to help those in need, including Texas Baptist Men, whose water supplies have now been depleted due to the crisis. MV's donation, comprised of three semi-trailer loads of over 4,000 cases of bottled water, will provide further aid to those still in need and boost much needed supplies.
"Since its founding in 1975, MV has maintained a strong culture for supporting the communities we serve," said Tom Egan, MV CEO. "While that support usually involves providing safe and reliable transportation for individuals to their jobs, school, grocery store, or important medical appointments, it is a natural extension of our mission to support those in need today due to the recent storms and our community partners that are on the front line providing assistance."
With additional logistical support provided by MV customers Dallas Area Rapid Transit and Capital Metro, MV's donation is going to the following organizations:
- Texas Baptist Men - Delivers help, hope and healing through disaster relief and water ministry around the world and raises up the next generation to do likewise.
- Austin Street Center - Provides safe shelter and meets the basic needs of the most vulnerable homeless in Dallas.
- CitySquare – Fighting the causes and effects of poverty in Dallas through service, advocacy and friendship.
- El Buen Samaritano – A trusted community partner serving and addressing the physical, social, spiritual, and emotional wellbeing of Latinos in Central Texas.
Founded in 1975, MV provides freedom for over 110 million passengers each year across 28 states and Canada with a team of more than 20,000 dedicated transit professionals. Headquartered in Dallas, MV's Texas-based passenger operations include Austin, Corpus Christi, Dallas, El Paso, Houston, Justin and San Antonio.
