Mystic Most Expensive Destination in Connecticut, Survey Shows
Hartford, Conneticut (PRWEB) July 20, 2015 -- The seaside town of Mystic is the most expensive destination in Connecticut. A recent survey from CheapHotels.org came to this conclusion after comparing the hotel rates for 30 main destinations in New England during the months of July and August 2015.
The average cost of each location’s cheapest available double room determined the rankings. That being the case, the prices indicated are reflective of the minimum amount travelers can anticipate paying to stay at a certain destination this summer. Only those hotels with a central location and with at least a 2-star rating were considered by the survey.
Visitors to Mystic, home of the largest maritime museum in the world, will have to spend, on average, $137 per night for a double room. That ranks the destination as the most expensive in the state of Connecticut, but only 15th most expensive in all of New England. Provincetown, Massachusetts tops the overall rankings of the region with an average nightly price tag of $247.
Elsewhere in the state, Connecticut's state capital, Hartford, ranks 20th most expensive at an average overnight price of $129. Groton, like Mystic located in New London County, ranks least expensive overall in New England among the 30 destinations considered. An average cost of only $92 per night puts it at the bottom of the rankings.
The following table shows the 10 most expensive New England destinations considered for this survey. The five costliest Connecticut locales are also singled out. The prices shown reflect the average rate for each destination's cheapest available double room for the time period spanning July 1 through August 31, 2015.
