NAAMTA Accreditation: A Partnership For Lifesaving Excellence
AMERICAN FORK, Utah (PRWEB) November 05, 2017 -- NAAMTA’s participation in domestic and international medical transport industry conferences, including the Air Medical Transport Conference (AMTC), the National Association of State EMS Officials (NASEMSO), the International Travelers Insurance Conference (ITIC), and MEDEVAC, is leading to the recognition of NAAMTA as a premier global provider of medical transport accreditation.
NAAMTA was created to facilitate an alliance of Medical Transport Service organizations and existing or emerging policy makers, to establish and maintain an accurate and valuable set of standards for the medical transport industry. Through NAAMTA Accreditation, industry best practice procedures are identified, EMS and interfacility community exchange is promoted, and organizational performance is improved.
Many factors influence an organization’s decision to seek accreditation, but ultimately, accreditation standards identify and define measurable criteria for performance. The process of accreditation creates a platform of expectations for medical personnel, clinics, hospitals, and other agencies to create mutual understanding for performance.
Organizations apply for NAAMTA Medical Transport Accreditation for several reasons, two of which include:
• NAAMTA Accreditation criteria and processes reflect the highest and best quality measures pertaining to all departments and areas involved in medical transport services.
• NAAMTA Accreditation is recognized and/or required by some local and state government organizations, international entities, and military contracts, such as Indian Health Services, Department of State, Department of Defense, Air Mobility Command, and the Department Veteran Affairs.

Program Director, Amy Arndt explains that NAAMTA Accreditation is awarded to programs that demonstrate compliance through an extensive and comprehensive audit of business administration documentation, operational and medical protocols, licensures, training, and documented safety and quality management systems.
In addition to the documentation review, NAAMTA auditors perform site audits to conduct visual observations, verify processes and record keeping, interview personnel, and establish solid relationships with the organization. Medical Transport organizations vary in size and may include international flights as well as bases in multiple countries. The auditing team performs overseas audits to ensure company policies and procedures are exemplified throughout the organization, regardless of the distance from headquarters.
As the first and only medical transport accreditation company registered as an ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management organization. NAAMTA champions medical transport accreditation, offering guidelines for development of a quality system which focuses on transport safety, patient care, quality management, and continuous improvement.
NAAMTA’s certified quality management system is audited annually by PRI Registrar, which is an ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board-approved Registrar certifying organizations to a variety of management systems including ISO 9001. The accreditation audit is conducted using ISO 9001 auditing guidelines.
