The National Association for Music Education hosts three student competitions each school year: the Student Composers Competition, the Electronic Music Composition Competition, and the Student Songwriters Competition, all open to Kindergarten through Collegiate/Graduate School students. This fall the winners of the 2022 competitions were announced.
RESTON, Va., Nov. 2, 2022 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The National Association for Music Education (NAfME) hosts three student competitions each school year: the Student Composers Competition, the Electronic Music Composition Competition, and the Student Songwriters Competition, all open to Kindergarten through Collegiate/Graduate School students. This fall the winners of the 2022 competitions were announced.
The NAfME Student Composers Competition spotlights original music written by student composers. Students in elementary school, secondary school, college, and graduate school submitted their works to the competition. Selected composers receive cash awards, thanks to the generous support of the European American Musical Alliance (Dr. Philip Lasser, president). All entrants also receive written evaluations of their compositions. Selected works will be featured during the 2022 NAfME National Conference in National Harbor, Maryland, on November 4.

The NAfME Electronic Music Composition Competition recognizes outstanding compositions and highlights the effectiveness of music technology in the school curriculum. Entries are judged based on their aesthetic quality, use of electronic media, and the power of the composition.
NAfME member adjudicators selected winners from three categories: grades K–8; grades 9–12; and collegiate/graduate school. Each entrant must be sponsored by a NAfME member or be a NAfME Collegiate member in good standing. Submitted compositions needed to be 5 minutes or less and either be composed electronically or include electronic instruments (vocal and/or acoustic instruments could be combined with electronic instruments).
Selected composers receive cash awards. All entrants will receive written evaluations of their work.

All entrants receive written evaluations of their work. Selected works will be featured during the 2022 NAfME National Conference in National Harbor, Maryland, on November 4.
