On February 14, 2025, the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) announced the 2025–2027 Presidents-Elect for the Eastern, Northwest, and Southwestern Divisions, elected by NAfME members.
HERNDON, Va., Feb. 18, 2025 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- On February 14, 2025, the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) announced the 2025–2027 Presidents-Elect for the Eastern, Northwest, and Southwestern Divisions, elected by NAfME members.
Every two years, NAfME members in these three divisions cast their votes for the next person to lead their respective divisions in the association. NAfME is comprised of six divisions—the other three divisions (North Central, Southern, and Western) elect their Presidents-Elect every other two years along with the NAfME National President-Elect.
The association values the contributions to music education from all the candidates who take part in this process and looks forward to the newly elected Division Presidents-Elect carrying forth the long tradition NAfME holds of leadership in the field of music education.

Eastern Division President-Elect: Wayne Mallette. Immediate Past President of New Jersey Music Educators Association, Wayne Mallette is the Supervisor of Fine Arts and Physical Education (PreK–12) for the Scotch Plains–Fanwood School District in New Jersey. He is also a Lecturer and Adjunct Professor of Music Education at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University. Prior to that Mallette was Choral Director and Music Theory Instructor at Summit High School in Summit, New Jersey. He has served in education for more than 20 years. Mallette received his Bachelor of Music and Music Education from Rutgers University, and his Masters in Music–Music Education from Northwestern University and Masters in Arts-Educational Leadership from Ramapo College. He received his Doctorate of Education–Music and Music Education from Columbia University, Teachers College. Learn more about Wayne Mallette.

Northwest Division President-Elect Chad Rose. A Past President of the Wyoming Music Educators Association, Chad Rose is Director of Bands at Sheridan High School in Sheridan, Wyoming. He has served in education for 26 years. Rose currently serves as a Board Member on the Worlds of Music Board, and as Treasurer for the Wyoming Jazz Educators Executive Board. Rose received his Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Wyoming and Master of Arts in Music Education from the University of Wyoming, as well as his Master of Science in Athletic Administration from Ohio University. Southwestern Division President-Elect: Joseph N. Flores. A Past President of New Mexico Music Educators Association (NMMEA), Joseph N. Flores is the Director of Fine Arts for Teaching and Learning for Las Cruces Public Schools (LCPS). Prior to overseeing Fine Arts curriculum and activities for LCPS, he taught middle school and high school band programs in Las Cruces, New Mexico, and El Paso, Texas, since 1997. Flores has served as President of the NMMEA Southwest District and has also served at the state level as Band Division Vice-President and President for the entire NMMEA organization. Flores earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music Education and Master of Music in Instrumental Conducting from New Mexico State University. Learn more about Joseph N. Flores.
