SAN DIEGO (PRWEB) December 18, 2018 -- Monday morning, housing industry leader Pam Patenaude submitted her resignation as the Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Patenaude’s extensive career in the housing industry and depth of knowledge were the primary drivers behind NAHREP’s enthusiastic support of her nomination as Deputy Secretary in April of 2017.
NAHREP has worked closely with the Deputy Secretary throughout her tenure on policy priorities regarding inventory demands, access to credit, and disaster recovery efforts. Earlier this month, Deputy Secretary Patenaude traveled to Puerto Rico to meet with NAHREP leaders and Puerto Rican government officials to share her efforts to expedite the recovery of the post-Hurricane Maria Puerto Rico housing market.
“Pam Patenaude has been a friend of NAHREP throughout her career and has been a leader on issues relating to Hispanic homeownership,” said 2018 NAHREP President Daisy Lopez-Cid. “NAHREP thanks her for her tenacious commitment and unwavering support of recovery efforts in Puerto Rico. We will definitely miss her.”
While Patenaude’s departure is a loss to the housing industry, NAHREP is looking forward to working with Brian Montgomery, current FHA Commissioner, in his new role as Acting Deputy Director of HUD. NAHREP enjoys a longstanding relationship with Brian Montgomery and is confident in the continuity of our shared missions to increase sustainable Hispanic homeownership.
