Nakeia Brooks, a devoted mother, has completed her new book “What is A.D.D.?”: a tale of a young girl who gains confidence and self-awareness once she realizes what makes her special.

According to Brooks, "I wanted to learn to be fearless, to walk as if I have no worries, and to instill in me the confidence of a bull. Fearless to me reads strength, confident, bold, and a person who loves themselves. As a young girl, I had so much fear in me, afraid to speak in public, and the fear of not being accepted hindered me from my many talents. But as I became a woman, I added the word fearless in my prayers and asked God daily to give me the confidence I needed to be fearless. I began to write small stories about the many obstacles I would face in my life because writing was therapeutic and easier for me to express myself without facing the fear of others not accepting them, but with prayer and faith, I removed that fearful little girl from within and became my own superhero, the fearless queen. I am different from other superheroes. I have no disguise. I have affirmation that I will walk with poise and grace, and on my back will read, “humble,” and on my chest will read the reformation of fearless queen.”

Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Nakeia Brooks's beautifully illustrated children's book examines how parents should respond when a child wonders why an illness or situation is happening to them. The author experienced that question as a parent and realized it’s from their parents that children gain understanding.

Confidence is the magical word that will remove all self-doubt and any worries children may have. By reading this book, they will gain the confidence and understanding that within every child lies a winner.

Readers who wish to experience this inspiring work can purchase “What is A.D.D.?” at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
