National Association of Professional Women Inducts Maria A. Cosenza, Principal at WoodsHaven Consulting, LLC, Into its VIP Professional Woman of the Year Circle
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) April 04, 2017 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Maria A. Cosenza as a 2017-2018 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in entrepreneurship. NAPW is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting more than 850,000 members, a thriving eChapter and over 200 operating Local Chapters.
“I’m pleased to welcome Maria into this exceptional group of professional women,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “Her knowledge and experience in her industry are valuable assets to her company and community.”
Maria Cosenza began her career in 1969 on Wall Street. “There were these new things called mainframe computers and we were asked who would like to work in the data department,” she recalled. “I agreed and learned about mainframes. I even learned programming in Fortran.”
Although she took some time off to raise her children, Ms. Cosenza went back to work when they got older. She managed chiropractic and dental practices, and implemented systems (computer as well as manual) in the various offices where she worked. One software company was so impressed by her computer skills that they offered Ms. Cosenza a job working for them.
“So began my career,” she said. “I implemented close to 350 dental systems and consulted with the practitioners to better grow their dental practices.” Ms. Cosenza—who said she has always been inspired by her Sicilian-born, hard-working mother—went on to run her own computer training company, which she eventually sold.
She then worked for ten years at a software company, where she successfully implemented a global system to manage its human resources department. Once again, Ms. Cosenza’s skills and hard work were recognized and she was lured by yet another software company, where she remained until her “retirement” in 2013.
Today, as Principal of WoodsHaven Consulting, LLC, Ms. Cosenza is once again implementing systems in group medical and dental offices. She also provides soft-skills training, writes training documentation and helps with the change management in the offices. “Most challenging is helping my clients see different ways to a solution; most rewarding is when a client tells me I have helped them so much and they still like me!” said Ms. Cosenza of her latest professional endeavor. She added: “I guess you can say I am downsizing and working less but smarter, to quote a cliché.”
