NAPW Names Jesi Cunningham, Owner/Copy Editor & Proofreader Find the Typo, a VIP Professional Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) August 23, 2017 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Jesi Cunningham as a 2017-2018 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in entrepreneurship. NAPW is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting more than 850,000 members, a thriving eChapter and over 200 operating Local Chapters.
“I’m pleased to welcome Jesi into this exceptional group of professional women,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “Her knowledge and experience in her industry are valuable assets to her company and community.”
By her own admission, Jesi Cunningham did not set out to be a Copy Editor and Proofreader. “I ventured into this field quite by accident,” Ms. Cunningham said. “I was teaching 7th Grade English when I realized I was having more fun grading papers than teaching the students.”
So, after many years of proofreading for friends and neighbors, three years ago, Ms. Cunningham stepped out of the classroom and into the official role of Copy Editor and Proofreader. A few months ago, she decided to make the bold move to business owner and started her company, Find the Typo.
“As my husband describes it, I am the CEO (Chief Everything Officer),” she said. “I am a company of one, so if it needs to get done, I do it!” At Find the Typo, Ms. Cunningham specializes in copy editing and proofreading educational documents and textbooks. As an independent contractor, she spends much of her time networking and marketing her company, attending events and conferences. “I have to go find work; it doesn’t come to me,” she added.
Ms. Cunningham looks forward to growing her business, taking on additional projects and clients that will keep her busy 40 hours a week and enable her to generate a solid and steady income. Eventually, Ms. Cunningham hopes to expand her customer list to include international clients.
