National Association of Professional Women Announces Valerie N. Tubner, Document Management Specialist at B Braun Medical Inc., a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) August 26, 2014 -- NAPW honors Valerie N. Tubner as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year. Ms. Tubner is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in business. As the largest, most-recognized networking organization of professional women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a powerfully vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and nearly 300 Local Chapters.
“I retired from AT&T after 26 years. I stayed home for a few months and then I thought, ‘This is not for me!’” recalls Ms. Tubner.
Not interested in returning to the same type of position she held at AT&T, that of Telecommunications Network Manager, Ms. Tubner decided to try something new: documentation writing. She started out working as a temp at B Braun Medical Inc., a medical parts manufacturer, in 2007. Never thinking she would work full time again, Ms. Tubner liked her job so much she decided to do just that.
As a Document Management Specialist, Ms. Tubner works closely with the engineering and production / operations teams. She creates accurate documentation that succinctly outlines procedures for machine operators, assemblers and quality inspectors. “Once I create the document, I can help the workers follow the directions,” she says. “Every product has to be inspected to make sure it works properly. We have to perform a number of tests.” She also maintains the documentation to keep the instructions current.
A big part of Ms. Tubner’s job, and one she enjoys most, is training employees to make sure they are correctly following the procedures. With an eye toward the future, Ms. Tubner, who has no intention of retiring again anytime soon, is hoping to eventually pursue a position that involves just training. “I really enjoy seeing how I could help people follow instructions. Training is very satisfying,” she adds.
NAPW’s mission is to provide an exclusive, highly advanced networking forum to successful women executives, professionals and entrepreneurs where they can aspire, connect and achieve. Through innovative resources, tools and benefits, professional women interact, exchange ideas, advance their knowledge and empower each other.
