NAPW Santa Clarita, CA Chapter Inspired by Visit to Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center in June
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) July 24, 2013 -- Members and guests of the NAPW Santa Clarita, CA Local Chapter gathered on June 12th for a professional networking meeting.
Before the group of professional women met for dinner at Wood Ranch BBQ & Grille, they visited the Susan R. Veloz Breast Cancer Imaging Center at Henry Mayo Hospital.
Members and guests took a tour of the Center, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, as part of the Santa Clarita Chapter’s Health and Wellness initiative.
Attendees received information about the Center’s work from the Director Terry Bucknall, B.A. CRA, RT (R), (M), as well as important tips about women’s breast health.
All were inspired by their visit.
“Our group was very grateful to Ms. Bucknall, who showed us the facility and gave us priceless tips and information,” said Chapter President Nicky “Dare” Eddy. “She also generously gave us some wonderful souvenirs to bring home, including pink socks and pink pins.”
At the center, the group of professional women was shown the latest in digital technology for mammograms.
Ms. Bucknall explained to members and guests how the processing of digital images is faster than conventional film processing and images are clearer and able to be interpreted with more accuracy.
The Center’s director told members and guests that the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center was created through the experiences of breast cancer survivors, patients and their families and is designed with patients’ physical and emotional needs in mind. Its goal is to improve access to breast imaging services in the Santa Clarita Valley by making it easier for women to have their annual mammograms, and to reduce the anxiety associated with breast cancer detection.
Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center is located at 23929 McBean Parkway, Suite 101, Valencia, CA 91355.
At the end of the visit, the group thanked Ms. Bucknall for the very informative tour.
“Ms. Bucknall was very pleased to have us stop by and tour her facility,” said President Nicky Dare. “She invited and encouraged other NAPW Local Chapters to visit the facility at anytime.”
After the group tour, members and guests headed to the dinner meeting at Wood Ranch BBQ & Grille.
The Chapter President kicked off the Chapter meeting by asking members what they thought of the group’s visit to the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center.
“Many of us shared some of our personal experiences, it was all very inspiring,” said Nicky Dare. “The group tour was definitely motivating to everyone.”
The Chapter President briefly discussed the upcoming Southern California Presidents Joint Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, June 19th and updated members on t-shirt orders.
She also said that due to everyone’s hectic schedule and family vacations in the coming summer, the Chapter will consider having a conference call to update other members who are not able to attend Chapter meetings regularly.
The next Santa Clarita Local Chapter meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 16th at the Wood Ranch BBQ & Grill, 25580 The Old Road, Stevenson Ranch, CA.
Attendees at the June 12th meeting included Patricia Williams, Nina Baca of Altha Private Security,. Marian Gorman of By The People (also President of Simi Valley), Ada Villanueva of Nerium AD, Ashley Butler, and guest, and Nicky Dare’s guest, Lois Lopez of Liberty Financial.
