NAPW Inducts Karen Wall, Mental Health Nurse Educator / Dementia Care Coordinator, VA Palo Alto Health Care System, Into its VIP Professional Woman of the Year Circle
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) September 23, 2015 -- The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Karen Wall as a 2015-2016 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in healthcare education. Karen Wall is a Mental Health Nurse Educator and Dementia Care Coordinator at VA Palo Alto Health Care System. In her role, she is responsible for educating the nursing staff in mental health and care of patients with behavioral problems and mental illness.
As part of the Extended Care Nursing Service / Community Living Centers, Ms. Wall sees to the educational and training needs of nursing staff on residential dementia-care units. She also assesses and monitors nursing practice to determine educational needs. To date, Ms. Wall has been successful at providing her well-rounded expertise to ensure patients with dementia and / or mental health issues receive high-quality, patient-centered care across the VA Palo Alto Health Care System.
Ms. Wall received her Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychotherapy with a concentration in Marriage & Family Therapy from Argosy University and her Master of Arts degree in Secondary Science Education from the University of Hawaii. Ms. Wall is in the midst of obtaining her Marriage and Family Therapy license and will graduate with her Doctorate (Ed.D.) in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University in October 2015.
