National College for DUI Defense, Inc. Board Certification Open for Registration
Montgomery, AL (PRWEB) July 12, 2016 -- The National College for DUI Defense, Inc. (NCDD) announces that it will conduct its annual examination for DUI attorneys and DWI lawyers for their nationally recognized Board Certification program in January 2017 in Tucson, Arizona. The NCDD board certification program is the only recognized method for gauging a lawyers’ skills and competency recognized by the American Bar Association (ABA) and by attorney regulatory agencies in over 20 states. Applications for the exam can be obtained here, and are due by September 2, 2016.
“This process fairly and rigorously tests a lawyer’s knowledge, experience and overall understanding of DUI and DWI defense” said Michael Hawkins, Chair of the Board Certification Committee of the National College for DUI Defense. “No other organization in the country is recognized to certify lawyers in the area of DUI and DWI defense by the American Bar Association (ABA) or approved by lawyer agencies throughout the United States.”
In order to become Board Certified, an applicant must satisfy certain minimum practice requirements and pass both written and oral examinations testing his or her knowledge of substantive and procedural law in this field. Specifically, the examination focuses on scientific issues, the NHTSA guidelines on field sobriety tests and drug recognition tests, as well as other constitutional, legal and ethical issues applicable to the defense of drunk driving cases. Once an applicant passes the examination and meets all other requirements, the attorney becomes Board Certified by the National College for DUI Defense, Inc. for five (5) years subject to the renewal requirements of the National College for DUI Defense, Inc. approved by the ABA.
• Less than 50 lawyers in the world have become Board Certified in DUI Defense under the standards accredited by the ABA and administered by the National College for DUI Defense. Those attorneys who are presently Board Certified can be found here.
Applications are due by September 2, 2016 and the examination will take place on January 18, 2017 prior to the NCDD Winter Session held in Tucson, Arizona. For additional details, please refer to the Rules Governing Board Certification.
