FREDERICK, Md., Sept. 17, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The National Museum of Civil War Medicine and Surelocked In Escape Games are partnering to put on a first-of-its-kind immersive Civil War entertainment experience. From 11:30 AM to 5:00 PM on September 21, 2019 all of downtown Frederick will become the stage for "One Vast Adventure – Frederick At War."
Step into the world of Civil War Frederick by playing 'One Vast Adventure.' It will be up to you to raise enough money in the game to prevent the city of Frederick from being burned by Jubal Early's Confederate army. To do that, players will solve puzzles, scour the city for clues, and interact with costumed characters throughout downtown Frederick.
Check-in for One Vast Adventure begins at 11:30 AM at the Weinberg Center for the Arts in Frederick. Players will be given a game booklet to guide them through the experience. They will then have 3.5 hours to complete interactive missions, puzzles, and games throughout downtown Frederick to help save the city from the flames.
The event is sponsored by nearly 30 businesses downtown. Each will have their own unique incentive or giveaway for participants ranging from ice cream to art prints to beer. Each participating store will have deals and discounts exclusively available for game players.
David Price, Executive Director of the National Museum of Civil War Medicine said, "We hope to turn the whole downtown area into an historic immersive experience. The level of excitement about bringing history alive among the downtown business community is really unique. This kind of event is what makes Frederick special."
To conclude the day, at 4:00 PM, there will be an after-party happy hour to celebrate the day's events and enjoy complimentary Civil War themed drinks and snacks catered by Brewers Alley, Flying Dog, and the Pop Shop.
"We're producing a Civil War show on a massive scale," said Chris Sparks, Owner and CEO of Surelocked In, "and all of historic, downtown Frederick is the stage! Legions of costumed characters will be roaming the streets to make everyone else passing by actually feel like they've been teleported back to the 1860's. No one has ever done anything like this before, so we're making history by living history!"
Tickets are $32/person ($16/children 12 and under) and include food and drink samples, exclusive specials from participating stores, and access to the entertainment experience and after-party. There is no better way to experience the Frederick of 2019 than by exploring the Frederick of the 1860's! Don't just learn about history, make history!
If you prefer to play as a team, sign up with your family, friends, or coworkers for a special group rate! Book at least 10 tickets and unlock these special perks:
- Discounted Tickets: Save $5/person when you enlist as a Brigade
- Brigade Commander: Unlock a Secret Character that will monitor your team's progress during the game
- Bonus Missions: Undertake exclusive Brigade-specific missions that are hidden from the main game tracks
However you choose to play, One Vast Adventure promises to be a can't miss event.
Day Of Schedule:
11:30 – 12:00: Check-In at the Weinberg Center for the Arts. A Civil War brass band will set the mood while players receive their wrist band which identifies them as game players, their event booklet, and which of the 4 game tracks to play. The game is divided into 4 separate tracks (medical, commissary, ordinance, and quartermaster) so that there are 4 completely different gaming experiences.
12:00 – 12:15: Opening remarks, rules of play, and the opening skit which allows the players to meet the main characters and to establish the premise of raising the ransom money.
12:15 – 3:30: Players leave the Weinberg to go play the game all throughout town, enjoying the games and giveaways. Fife and drum music will be heard throughout town during the game.
3:45 – 5:00: Happy hour and closing remarks at the Weinberg. There will be a closing skit to conclude the story line followed by thank yous to the players. Enjoy catering by Brewers Alley until 5:00 (with the Civil War brass band again setting the background music).
