Lower base tuition rate plus reductions based on credits earned reduce overall cost of an undergraduate degree; students can realize immediate savings

Cost shouldn't be a barrier to higher education...

As part of its commitment to make college more affordable, National American University has lowered the tuition for its online undergraduate programs. The innovative new tuition structure saves students thousands of dollars on the overall cost of their education and helps reduce their student loan debt at graduation.

“Cost shouldn’t be a barrier to higher education. The new tuition structure is a game changer that rewards students' commitment and motivates them to complete their degree, while helping them graduate with less in student loan debt. What better way to help make higher education more accessible and affordable than to help students balance their financial obligations?” said Dr. Cindy Mathena, NAU Provost and Chief Academic Officer.

The new tiered tuition structure goes into effect June 1, 2020 for enrollments with a class start date of June 1 or later. The new tuition structure replaces the current flat rate tuition for new and current students in NAU’s online certificate, diploma, associate and bachelor’s degree programs. Under the tiered tuition plan, the cost per credit hour decreases as students earn more credit hours toward their undergraduate degree programs. Tuition ranges from $370 to $296 per credit hour, representing reductions of 10-20% as students complete more courses. Returning alumni receive an additional reduction, lowering their cost of tuition even further.

Students can further lower the overall cost of their degree by transferring credits from previously earned education. The tuition reduction they receive at NAU is based on transcript evaluation and number of credits earned at time of enrollment. For example, an undergraduate student with 46 transfer credits will immediately receive a 10% tuition reduction on enrollment. Students who transfer 136 credit hours or more will receive a reduction of 20%.

Students may qualify as long as they remain enrolled and participate in an eligible NAU program of study, making them eligible for the reduced tuition within the program. Program lengths vary in the number of credits required.

With more than 20 years of experience in developing and providing online education, NAU offers 100% online programs that provide non-traditional students the flexibility to earn a degree at their convenience and on their schedule.
