National Association of Professional Women Announces B. Kay Bontrager, Owner / Therapist at Recovery Connections of Michiana, a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) November 25, 2014 -- NAPW honors B. Kay Bontrager, Owner / Therapist at Recovery Connections of Michiana, as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year. Ms. Bontrager is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in the field of Mental Health. B. Kay Bontrager was a Registered Nurse who decided that she was more suited to helping people suffering from emotional and psychological disorders with a holistic approach, rather than a conventional one. Once she made her decision, Ms. Bontrager attended Grace Theological Seminary and became a Certified Addictions Counselor. In 2001 she received her Master's degree in Counseling and began working at Oaklawn Psychiatric Hospital as a Certified Addictions Counselor.
“My focus has always been on prevention rather than band-aid medical treatment,” said Ms. Bontrager. She has always been an educator and facilitator of change, first on health issues and then within the mental health field
Now retired from active nursing, Ms. Bontrager reflects back on her experiences and the many insights she gained that have helped give her the ability to diagnose and treat many conditions including chronic pain, diabetes and multiple sclerosis.
