National Association of Professional Women Announces Sonja L. Andersen, Photographer / Owner of Photography by Andersen, a 2015 Professional Woman of the Year
Garden City, NY (PRWEB) January 27, 2015 -- NAPW honors Sonja L. Andersen as a 2015 Professional Woman of the Year. Ms. Andersen is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in photography. As the largest, most-recognized networking organization of professional women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a powerfully vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and over 200 Local Chapters.
“I have always had an interest in photography,” says Ms. Andersen. “I am an artist; I started out drawing originally, but I’m much better with a camera.”
A camera always in her hands, Ms. Andersen is constantly taking photographs of things around her. From people to animals to nature, she is able to find beauty everywhere and tries to find ways to make an image unique. Ms. Andersen enjoys sharing the photographs she captures with the public. “I tell a story with my photos. I love nature, seasons, trees; things that make people happy,” she says.
A writer as well as a photographer, Ms. Andersen is interested in pursuing a career in media, where she can combine both of her talents. This past summer, she captured the tense scenes of a real-life crime taking place at her apartment complex and her photographs accompanied an online news story on CNN ireport. “The person wanted to commit suicide but thankfully it was resolved peacefully,” says Ms. Andersen. “It was very exciting and a good story with a happy ending.”
Ms. Andersen’s ultimate goal is to give people a window into a world they may not be able to see or be near, such as the beach. She posts her images on both Facebook and LinkedIn, where she has received nearly 100,000 likes on her most recent project, Peace in the Middle East Now. “I’ve received a lot of positive responses. I’m very proud of this,” says Ms. Andersen.
