National Museum of Mathematics and The Wall Street Journal Launch Weekly Math Quiz - Dept. of Mathletics
New York, NY (PRWEB) September 17, 2015 -- The National Museum of Mathematics (MoMath) and The Wall Street Journal announce the launch of Dept. of Mathletics, a weekly math quiz that will appear on the Journal’s digital platforms and on the new “Play” puzzle page within the Review section of WSJ Weekend. The Dept. of Mathletics feature will launch on Saturday, September 19.
With content created by MoMath, Dept. of Mathletics will feature two math puzzles each week, including logic puzzles, algebraic problems and visual questions of varied difficulty. Each week, one challenging question will be part of a five-week “math relay” – the answers to puzzles from the first four weeks will be required to answer the fifth week.
“We are thrilled to partner with The Wall Street Journal to launch this completely unique math puzzle,” said Glen Whitney, President, MoMath. “Through Dept. of Mathletics, we hope to engage math lovers, reach new audiences and reveal the many exciting and entertaining aspects of mathematics to readers throughout the world.”
Dept. of Mathletics answers will be posted in print the week following a specific puzzle, and detailed solutions will be posted online (mathletics.momath.org and at wsj.com) the same day the short answers are published in print. Answers to the math relay puzzles will be posted online and in print one week after the relay is complete.

Dept. of Mathletics and the “Play” section are part of WSJ’s recent expansion into the world of puzzles, including a daily crossword puzzle.
All Dept. of Mathletics puzzles will be available in print and via the Journal’s digital platforms at wsj.com/puzzles. The puzzles will also appear on mathletics.momath.org.
