CORAL GABLES, Fla., Sept. 16, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The Coral Gables-based Resorcity (resorcity.com) announces the national unveiling of its online platform designed to forge stronger connections between government, businesses and residents in cities across the U.S.
The free-membership platform encourages and incentivizes local community engagement. The onset of COVID-19 provided the develop team an opportunity to showcase Resorcity's business stream of deals and offers, linking its members to local restaurants, retailers and services. The site kicks off in the pilot city of Coral Gables where local business and city leaders embrace the platform as a mean igniting the economy.
More than 30 Coral Gables businesses have signed up to showcase their products and services on resorcity.com and the Resorcity app (available for IOS and android). Participant businesses pay nothing to join, committing only to offer and honor discounts available only to Resorcity members who accrue points for each business visit. Those points link members to more deals, ensuring businesses have return customers.
"Resorcity is based on the premise that people are valuable resources, bringing knowledge, experience, skill, connections and energy that can be harnessed to solve problems. There's no greater time than now to engage our community's greatest resource to reignite the local economy," said Co-Founder and CEO Tony Newell.
Resorcity evolved out of CityGrader, an online network that empowers residents to review local governments and public agencies, encouraging better service. Developed by Newell and his resorcity co-founders, Paola Newell, David Amrani and Anthony Kang, the site is widely used throughout the State of Florida.
Like CityGrader, Resorcity creates a strong bond with local municipalities. Resorcity partnered with the City of Coral Gables to offer the platform free to businesses. City officials are eager to provide their business community a pipeline to customers. Later this year, the platform will unveil Resorcity 2.0, a stream of community and civic resources, where members can accrue points for attending government meetings, responding to city surveys and their overall positive community engagement.
"Resorcity harnesses a city's strengths – its residents, businesses and resources – to help communities thrive," said Coral Gables Vice Mayor Vince Lago. "This platform could very well be the vehicle to spark the economy and empower people to get involved, two things we need right now."
Business groups like the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce and the Coral Gables Business Improvement District are also early adopters of Resorcity and see its success essential to the city's economic growth.
"We're excited by the opportunities that Resorcity creates for local businesses. Connecting with new customers, expanding their visibility and building repeat customer loyalty will surely bring value to all businesses and energy to our city" said Aura Reinhardt, executive director of the Coral Gables Improvement District. "We're committed to supporting Resorcity because we see the value it brings to the Gables."
Coral Gables Chamber President Mark A. Trowbridge says the timing of Resocity's launch is ideal, allowing businesses to use the mobile app to increase their visibility among consumers.
"We are blessed in Coral Gables to have incredible businesses that are the lifeblood of our local economy and we take any opportunity we have as a chamber and local business community to showcase and leverage their outstanding products and services to ensure their success," Trowbridge said. "We are pleased to partner with Resorcity on this project – especially at this challenging time for companies and consumers alike – as we come together in the name of helping our Coral Gables' businesses survive and thrive. The timing could not be more perfect,"
