National Textile University Inaugurates Tukatech Design Labs
FAISALABAD, Pakistan (PRWEB) October 01, 2018 -- National Textile University (NTU) inaugurated three computer labs for digital pattern, textile, and apparel design, including 50 TUKAcad stations for digital pattern-making and several TUKA3D stations for virtual sample-making. The inauguration and ribbon cutting ceremony was performed by Tukatech’s Head Coach and Founder, Ram Sareen, and NTU’s Rector, Dr. Tanveer Hussain.
One of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Pakistan, NTU began as an institute focused on spinning, weaving, and processing of textiles, but since it was upgraded to a technical and managerial university in 2002, programs have been expanded to equip students with knowledge of fashion design, apparel merchandising, and garment manufacturing. The goal of the shift in recent years toward “outcome-based” teaching and skill enhancement has been to provide the garment industry with students who have enough hands-on experience to add value to their employers from day one.
Dr. Hussain explains, “We had been using CAD systems in our garment manufacturing programs, but we learned that about 70% of the progressive garment industry had switched to Tukatech systems for product development. We were amazed with the capabilities of TUKAcad and TUKA3D, and we knew our students would be in a better position to serve the garment industry with the knowledge and skill of the Tukatech systems.”
