Nation’s Largest Gathering of Land Conservation Leaders Moves Toward a More Inclusive, Relevant Future
PITTSBURGH (PRWEB) October 10, 2018 -- The Land Trust Alliance, a national land conservation organization working to save the places people need and love by strengthening land conservation across America, is convening this week in Pittsburgh the nation’s largest gathering of land conservation leaders.
Rally 2018: The National Land Conservation Conference begins Oct. 11 and continues through Oct. 13 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Many of the annual event’s seminars, workshops and speakers will focus on how attendees can move their nonprofit organizations toward a more inclusive and relevant future.
“We must counter the long-term threat of public apathy and disinterest in land conservation, as well as the growing lack of connection between many Americans and the land,” said Andrew Bowman, the Alliance’s president. “We believe that when land trusts engage all people in their communities – especially those who have not traditionally been served by, engaged in or moved by land conservation – they make land conservation inclusive and relevant.”
Bowman and other Rally 2018 speakers will discuss how land conservation professionals can build for themselves and their communities a stronger tomorrow.
“We will help people find common ground as they get outside and together see, touch, smell and protect what is real and what is beautiful,” Bowman said. “We commit that we will not only serve communities but actually build communities, planting the seeds for a nation to come back together, starting with a steadfast love of the land.”
Featuring more than 130 educational sessions, Rally 2018 is the nation’s largest annual gathering of land conservation professionals. Approximately 1,600 people in Pittsburgh will network with their colleagues, advance their skills and work to solve some of their greatest professional challenges.
