The Native Arts and Cultures Foundation (NACF) is pleased to announce its open call for two important programs, the LIFT–Early Career Support for Native Artists and the SHIFT – Transformative Change and Indigenous Arts.
PORTLAND, Ore., Jan. 18, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The LIFT – Early Career Support for Native Artists program, is a one-year award for emerging Native artists to develop and realize new projects. The program's focus is to provide financial support and professional development to artists whose work aims to uplift communities and advance positive social change. Artists who are shaping their practices and for whom the award may serve as a launching point in their career are encouraged to apply for the LIFT program.
The SHIFT – Transformative Change and Indigenous Art program, supports artist and community-driven projects responding to social change issues through a Native lens. One of the main goals of SHIFT is to draw increased attention to Native communities, perspectives, and challenges, shifting a national narrative of invisibility, misunderstanding, and misappropriation, supporting or focusing on efforts that are built upon community cultural assets, resilience, and strengths.
Artists who have experience developing projects that are focused on engaging communities and the public to address community issues are encouraged to apply for the SHIFT program.

LIFT awardees will receive a one-year award of $10,000, professional development, culturally appropriate evaluation and communications and marketing support.
SHIFT awardees will receive a two-year award totaling $100,000 with $50,000 of the award earmarked for the lead artist or arts collective and the remaining monies for their project partner. They will also receive professional development, culturally appropriate evaluation, communications and marketing support, as well as advocacy.
