LINCOLN, Neb. (PRWEB) April 16, 2019 -- The National Conference on Weights and Measures lost a valued colleague and friend in long-time National Type Evaluation Program (NTEP) Administrator Jim Truex who passed away on March 24, 2019. NTEP evaluates and certifies weighing and measuring devices as conforming to national standards for use in commerce before they are marketed in this country. Mr. Truex was highly respected for his expertise, efficiency and no-nonsense approach to his duties.
The organization is very fortunate to have Darrell Flocken on staff who is also highly qualified and has been named the new NTEP Administrator. Mr. Flocken was employed many years by scale manufacturer Mettler-Toledo, LLC and came to NCWM as NTEP Specialist in 2014. In that role, he has been active in the administration of the Verified Conformity Assessment Program (VCAP) and has conducted audits of manufacturer quality systems around the world to verify ongoing production of weighing and measuring devices continue to be produced to meet national standards. Mr. Flocken has also conducted NTEP evaluations during that time.
The demand for evaluations and audits continues to grow. Mr. Flocken will remain active by providing those services as NTEP Administrator, but it will be necessary to hire a new NTEP Specialist to keep up with that growing demand. NCWM is currently in that selection process.
NCWM is committed to retaining a high level of customer service to manufacturers during this time of transition and well beyond.
