NEF VP Art Stellar Honored by College Board
(PRWEB) September 07, 2013 -- Dr. Art Stellar has been selected by the College Board to spend a week in China as a guest of the Confucius Institute Headquarters. Dr. Stellar will be a member of the 2013 Chinese Bridge Delegation. This is a distinguished opportunity for Dr. Stellar to deepen his understanding of China, share best practices and build partnerships with Chinese schools and universities.
As Vice President of the National Education Foundation (NEF), national leader in bridging the STEM education divides in the nation’s schools, Dr. Stellar’s primary role is to aid school districts across the United States apply for and receive funding through the Federal Qualified Zone Academy Bonds (QZAB) program (http://www.qzab.org).
This QZAB program has a Billion Dollars available for school districts with 35% or more of its students eligible for free/reduced meals. The Foundation provides the mandated ten percent match and a flexible academic program to prepare students for college and the 21st century workforce.
NEF’s academy partner, the State University of New York (SUNY) helps to set up a STEM+ Total System Solution Academy guaranteed to advance a student one grade level in a subject like math or reading in 20-30 learning hours, as documented by SUNY. (http://www.cyberlearning.org).
Dr. Stellar has served as superintendent of school districts in various states, Dr. Stellar has also been active in numerous professional organizations including being elected national president of the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development,

In conjunction with his work with the Foundation, Dr. Stellar has been a leader among superintendents in promoting STEM education for all students as well as promoting Advanced Placement (AP) courses for more students by at least doubling or tripling enrollment in five different school districts.
Dr. Stellar received a “Special Recognition Award” from The College Board for being the first superintendent in the country to provide financial incentives for both students and teachers for AP examination results.
