Author also shares why he believes Melchizedek was not God's high priest
CARTERET, N.J., Aug. 7, 2023 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Tithing is a common practice in most churches, based on several verses from the Bible. Author Tracey L. Easley hopes to challenge this idea in his new book, "Tithing and Melchizedek – The Revelation!"
Easley presents an argument that there is no New Testament scripture concerning tithing, only scriptures on giving, which many pastors and preachers may use to teach tithing. He uses several verses from the scripture to help prove his point.
"Since tithing was a command, and giving should always be done of free will," Easley states. "There is confusion and a conflict of understanding among most believers who cannot differentiate between the two."
The author also includes scriptural examples about why he believes that Melchizedek, a king and a priest from the Old Testament, was not "God's high priest" even though he received tithes from Abraham.
"The comparison between Jesus and Melchizedek refers only to the eternal quality of their lives, not the function of their priesthoods," said Easley, "given that there is no written scriptural record of Melchizedek functioning as a priest or making sacrifices for sin which every Priest of God MUST be able to do [Hebrews 5:1]."
