New Children's Book "Three Paws" Follows A Bear Cub As He Matures Through Learning When to be Independent and When to Accept Help
Recent release "Three Paws" from Page Publishing author Karen Struck is about Boots, the Alaskan Grizzly bear cub, whose handicap sets him apart from the other bears--until he discovers that strength can be shown through kindness rather than force.
LOS GATOS, Calif., July 9, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Karen Struck, a registered nurse working in the aesthetics industry, and an Institute of Children's Literature trained writer, has completed her new book "Three Paws": the story of Boots who adapts to life with only three working paws after injuring his fourth, has to compensate with brains what he cannot accomplish through brawn alone—and help comes in the form of an unlikely new friend.
"During an Alaskan cruise, the naturalist on board described the dangers faced by billy goats who live along the mountain peaks," Karen Struck said of the inspiration for her work. "They sometimes lose their footing on loose gravel and roll down the mountain cliff, injured and unable to return to the mountaintop. They become prey for bears, wolves, and coyotes. As an assignment for one of the writing courses I was taking, I decided to turn this otherwise sad wildlife story into a story of hope, perseverance, and friendship."
Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Karen Struck's imaginative story brings young readers into the wild landscape of Alaska, introducing them to the many struggles of the animals who live there. In this story, Boots realizes that he may not make it to adulthood if he cannot learn to fish for himself. When he comes across a wounded billy goat who fell from the mountains above, the goat promises Boots that in exchange for help and sparing his life, the goat would make sure that in one week's time, Boots had not only enough salmon for himself, but for all the bears around them. Accompanied by vivid illustrations that help bring young readers into the story as well as the setting if it is an unfamiliar environment.
To enter the Alaskan frontier and watch Boots as he puts his faith in a billy goat, purchase "Three Paws" at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
