PALM BEACH, Fla., April 13, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- An entertaining picture book for children, "TOOTSIE TAKES ON BULLIES" by Lynne Katsafouros Friedman shows children that they are not alone and can successfully overcome bullying. The book follows Tootsie, a brave dog, who runs into bullies but reaches out and gets help from an adult.
Tootsie is excited to join the kids who are outside having fun, but she quickly learns that they are bullies. The bullies squeeze her and tease her, but luckily, she is able to escape. While hiding from the bullies, she thinks of a safe approach to use when facing a bully. When kids encounter a bully, they should act calm, turn away and go tell their parent, teacher or another adult. Tootsie calls this being 'TOOTSIEFIED'. With help from Tootsie's mom, Tootsie demonstrates that being 'TOOTSIEFIED' makes her stronger and the bullies weaker. Ultimately, the bullies learn that bullying is not okay, and they become friends with Tootsie.
"I had numerous conversations with parents, grandparents and their children about bullying. They were upset because they didn't know how to talk to their children directly about bullying nor did they know how to explain to their kids what to do when faced with a bully," says Katsafouros Friedman. "I decided to do my own anti-bullying research online, in the library, bookstores and I could not find many anti-bullying picture books for young children. It was apparent to me that I had to write my own book geared to younger children so they could understand how to react when faced with a bully."
The book will teach both children and adults how to handle a situation with bullies through colorful illustrations and an uplifting story. For more information on becoming 'TOOTSIEFIED' please visit http://www.tootsieonline.com.
