The Music Industry is always changing and looking for something new. Tejasvita Negi is one of those animators that brings fresh and innovative ideas to every project she touches. The designs she created for the artist Indian Trap launched the movement into the new decade with unique designs and animations, amassing a huge following the world over. She recently launched her own site where you can view all her projects.
LOS ANGELES, July 15, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Tejasvita Negi is an animator, illustrator, and graphic designer from India, based in Los Angeles. She developed her technique in combining traditional knowledge with acquired modern western pop culture from an early age, as she was always deeply intrigued by the process of obtaining a harmonious juxtaposition of variant styles. She obtained a BFA in Animation and Digital Media at Savannah College of Art and Design and upon graduation she moved to Los Angeles and has taken to exploring her niche further in the music industry. She has since worked with J2 Entertainment as well as various directors and producers within the industry, luxury supply stores like Jax and Bones, record labels like EP Entertainment and iTrap Records, and recording artists like Indian Trap and Vivaswan. Her work is published on various media platforms and garners thousands of viewers combined and has many more projects in the works. She has also storyboarded some music videos for Saweetie & Zak Abel and TMG Fresh. You can check them all out together on her website with a fresh new look.
Tejasvita started working with Indian Trap from the first song of the Indian Trap Movement, 'Look like Monayyy' for which she co-directed and animated a music video. It garnered over two million views on youtube and the song made it high on the charts. She has also worked on several covers, music videos, and lyrical music videos for a majority of iTrap records song campaigns, like 'Trapped', 'Loop Around', 'I feel Love', 'Un Partycito (La la la)', 'Cuarentena (na na na)', and more working with recording artists like KresZenzia, Vivaswan, Chris Scholar, and Tyeler Reign. She has also created multiple promotional pieces for most of these campaigns, being a core designer in the Indian Trap movement. She has also been deeply involved with visual asset creation for several J2 Entertainment albums' social media promotion.
Working with J2 Entertainment and Indian Trap, Tejasvita has found great creative freedom as it is a different genre and sound, with a unique identity that merges the Indian aesthetic with modern western pop culture. Indian Trap is a massive diverse ethnic movement and Tejasvita has created visuals that perfectly fit with its purpose. She studies the mood of each song produced and indiscriminantly ideates the visuals that could accompany it. She then researches on these ideas and presents roughs sketches, storyboards, etc. to the team. After sessions of break down, data analysis, and focused discussions on originality, a final direction is chosen. The media production is skillfully executed often with more feedback sessions that result in an alteration of the work process according to the focus. This results in media pieces that are engaging and fun, and increase media outreach for the campaign, making it a success every time. Each of these were works that she thought would be great for the viewer to witness together which you can view on TejaDesign - the site named after her moniker and her passion.
She looks forward to working on several more campaigns with iTrap Records and Indian Trap such as Chingona, Shadows, and more albums being released by J2 Entertainment in the future.
What is your biggest learning experience in the industry?
A thoroughly communicative, well-researched, and positive team is like a well-oiled success machine. It is important to engage in many feedback loops when working and alter the work process according to priorities of the project, and most importantly be passionate and enjoy the work you're engaged in. Working with J2 Entertainment and Indian Trap is such a breeze because it's such an energetic, focused group of creatives working together to create the best music experience possible for the viewer. Having all your work on a platform for multiple viewers is extremely important too as it keeps your new ideas launching for the World to consume.
What is your favourite personal project?
A favourite personal project is a 30-piece collage of ink-sketched illustrations with individualised stories. I enjoyed the constraints of the overall design and the challenge boosted my creativity and I also learned a lot more about symbolism through intricacy in illustration. I enjoy large pieces that are encompassed by smaller pieces, somewhat fractal-like. I hope to make more of such a series again in the near future. This can also be found on TejaDesign.
Looking back on your childhood, what experiences do you feel played an important role in shaping the person you grew up to be?
I have always been obsessed with stories. I love listening to them, watching them, creating them in my head, and pouring them out as visual media for the world to see. Another thing I'm very into is observing people and how contradictory they are of themselves. I think it makes us beautiful. So I often like to tell stories of mixture and contrast. I would watch all the animated shows on all the networks as a kid, and I loved drawing them. Feeling that freedom of creating visually what I saw in my head, the only thing separating it from reality being my own skill that can always be improved upon - that led to my love for animation and art. This can be noticed when one views my work together on the new site as all the pieces work together in a theme.
What advice would you give to a new animator entering the industry?
My advice to a new-comer in the industry would be to really know what you enjoy doing and put in a hundred per cent. If this is really your passion, you should automatically understand the need to consistently put in your all every day no matter how tired you are. Do not be intimidated by others' progress – you focus on you. And most importantly: enjoy the process. Making it in the industry itself is a set of experiences you can be inspired from.
