CLEVELAND, Tenn., May 7, 2021 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- A long-time city planner and unofficial town historian for the city of Cleveland, Tennessee has died.
Larry Ray Presswood died Wednesday, May 5 at the age of 78. He was the owner of one of the city's first commercial real estate businesses and worked in urban planning and real estate his entire life after graduating with a master's degree in urban planning from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
Larry worked for the State of Tennessee in Nashville and then Cookeville before returning to Cleveland to work for the city. He was instrumental in the planning and implementation of many public works projects in the city before he went on to work in the private sector for Hoskins Land Development Company. After that, he started his own commercial real estate company, Presswood Real Estate, and Business Brokerage. Larry always had a great love for the city of Cleveland, and had a great deal of knowledge of its past.
Larry is survived by his son, Wayne (Karen) Black; and four grandchildren: Madison Black, Adam Black, Mary Ann Black, and Sarah Black; nephews: Victor Lee, Jimmy (Carolyn) Ellis, Jerry Ellis, and Lance Suggs; nieces: Jana (Waymon) Casteel, Judy Shamblin, Connie Presswood Golden, and Sheila Presswood; various other relative and friends also survive.
A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. May 8 at Big Spring United Methodist Church in Cleveland.
